Homework Club

Staff will assist and sign off on all homework completed in our care. All homework will be completed in our quiet area of the homework club and a sufficient amount of time is allocated to each child.

Children are encouraged to do all written homework first. Each exercise will be checked by a staff member before a child starts on the next exercise. When staff are happy a child has worked on an exercise to the best of their ability their journal will be ticked and initialled. Learning homework (Spelling, Tables etc) will be checked once all written work is completed.

Reading homework must be completed at home. We believe that this type of work should be done with a child’s parent on a one to one basis.

Every parent should check that homework is satisfactorily completed each night and then sign their child’s homework journal. It is up to each parent to take responsibility for their child’s homework and make sure that all work is done to the best of their child’s ability.

Outdoor Play Area

Our outdoor play area is completely enclosed and safe, and children are supervised at all times.
The children will be going outside every day for play unless it is extremely cold or wet. Please keep this in mind when helping your child to select clothing for the day. We feel it is very beneficial for children to go outside to get some fresh air as often as they can.

We are based in Dunboyne Business Park, Dunboyne, Co Meath in customised modern premises that are designed to stimulate and develop your child.

All classrooms are bright, spacious and well-equipped with a large selection of age appropriate toys, games, activities and materials.

Holidays & Fees

Our childcare facility is open 51 weeks of the year. We will close for 1 week at Christmas, Bank Holidays and Good Friday.

Fees are payable at the beginning of each month. Preferred method of payment is by direct debit. However, we will accept cash or cheque and receipts are given upon payment. No refunds are given for late arrivals/early departures, days off due to illness, holidays, etc. Additional hours or days will be included in the following month’s fees. There is a €20 administration charge for all cheques returned unpaid.

Illness / Infection Control

It is the policy of Kidology Childcare to minimise the risk of cross infection among children and staff members. Parents/guardians or staff may seek advice if they are unsure if a child should be present at Kidology Childcare. We ask for the following to be adhered to:

• If your child becomes ill while in our care, parents are contacted immediately and you are asked to come to collect your child
• In order to limit the spread of infection, if a child becomes ill during the night, they should not be brought to Kidology Childcare the next day until they are 24 hours free from a high temperature etc
• If a child is kept away from Kidology Childcare due to an infectious illness, Kidology Childcare should be informed in order to monitor other children who may have been exposed and to prevent further outbreak
• Kidology Childcare will inform other parents whose children may have been exposed. Confidentiality will be respected
• If a child has had a contagious illnesses such as conjunctivitis, Impetigo, Hand Foot & Mouth etc a letter may be required from your GP to confirm the child poses no further health risk to other children or staff

Fire Drills

All staff are trained in fire safety. A practice fire drill is carried out once a month with staff and children participating. A record of this is kept on file. Our facility is fitted with certified fire fighting equipment which is checked every year.
